Japanese Baseball Team Heading to St. Paul for Exhibition Game with Saints

Two years ago the St. Paul Saints explored Japan and played exhibition games against teams from the Far East. In 2008 one of those teams will travel to St. Paul to play an exhibition game against the Saints. On Tuesday, April 29 the Saints will play a day/night doubleheader. At 12:05 p.m. the Saints will take on the Lincoln Saltdogs and at 7:05 p.m. they will play the Ibaraki Golden Golds. n 2006, the Saints traveled to Japan and played five teams in 10 days, including one against the Golden Golds. During the trip the Saints visited school children, hosted baseball clinics and helped introduce Japanese fans to the American minor league baseball experience.

T-Mac, Rockets Beat Timberwolves 97-86

Houston Rockets got a 97-86 victory over Minnesota on Wednesday night.Tracy McGrady scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and Luis Scola had 18 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.The Rockets outrebounded the Wolves 58-38 and scored 14 second-chance points to win for the 19th time in their last 21 home games.It is reported that the Rockets have won 29 of their last 33 games.

Warriors not counting out Nowitzki-less Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki may be sidelined for an undetermined amount of time, but the Warriors aren’t ready to count out the Dallas Mavericks. Nowitzki is the reigning league MVP, but the Houston Rockets showed that team’s can adapt. They lost All-Star center Yao Ming midway through a 22-game winning streak.

East or West, Yao’s fans split on what’s best

Yao’s fans worldwide heaved a sign of relief when the March 4 surgery on his left foot in Houston, Texas, was declared a success. However, the media reports of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) being used to speed up Yao’s recovery caused an online debate between Chinese and American fans of basketball superstar Yao Ming.

Yao May Become Mainland’s First Relay Runner

Beijing - Chinese basketball All-star Yao Ming may become the mainland’s first torchbearer. Yao is a shoe-in to be the first to run a 200m stretch with the torch. The follower will be Yi Jianlian. Yao had a successful operation earlier this month after he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot. He will recuperate for up to four months before making the decision to participate in the Games.

Tibetan Groups, Supporters in NY Protest Beijing Olympics

Tibetan refugees, activist groups and other supporters in New York City marked the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule by demanding independence and protesting the upcoming Beijing Olympics.
