Several Asian-Americans are up to bringing home the gold from the 2008 Beijing. Some of them are:

Badminton: Howard Bach – Bach was born in Saigon, Vietnam and grew up in San Francisco. And he also continued to pursue his passion for badminton at YMCA in U.S
|
Cycling: Kim Hayashi – 22 years and was born in Hawaii and will be competing for BMX racing.
Swimming: Tara Kirk – He is a half Chinese half Filipino and grew up in U.S. He was a champion in swimming since 2001.]

Table Tennis: Gao Jun Chang – She was born in Boading, China and now a U.S. citizen and is residing in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She had been playing table tennis since she was still 5 years old.
Judo: Taylor Takata – He is representing the U.S. for the 60-kilogram weight division for Olympics. And he is from Wahaiawa, Hawaii.
Rhythmic Gymnastics: Lisa Wang – An Asian-American which had won several championships already with Rhythmic Gymnastics. She will be studying at Yale University and will be taking up international studies or journalism.
Artistic Gymnastics: Ivana Hong – His parents are Chinese but they were born in Vietnam and now living in Laguna Hills, California.

Kevin Tan – who was a hyperactive child, but has won many to championships as a gymnast.

Yewki Tomita – a 23-year old native of Arizona got into the competition for the 2008 Olympics. His parents owned a gym that’s this was is stepping stone to becoming a good gymnast.

Sho Nakamori – He was still 7 years old when he got into the sport. This was also his parents’ favorite sport that’s why he was influenced by them.
|
Raj Bhavsar – a native of Texas who used furniture as his practice tools for gymnastics.
|
Diving: Haley Ishimatsu – She is a 15-year old girl from Seal Beach, California who is the representative for diving.
Kimiko Soldati – also a representative for diving and is a half Japanese.

Field Hockey: Binh Hoang – He was born in Vietnam and is now living at West Lake Village, California. He is already playing field hockey while he was still 7 years old.

The UFC fighter who have played last May 24 for the UFC 84 championships. It took place in MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
On the main event BJ Penn fought UFC lightweight title against the champion Sean Sherk.

Liu Xiang, a Chinese track star which is also Yao Mings’ friend said that Yao will make it to the Olympics this coming August. He is now under rehabilitation in preparation for His fight with his home country against United States where the NBA is.
“He said his foot was better and that he had started training again and that he thinks he should have no problem competing in the Olympics,” Liu said Wednesday through an interpreter.

Yao is still vigilant on his chances for playing for the Olympics, because of his foot surgery, but he is trying to pursue the training, because he had started running just last week.
What is important to Yao Ming still is the safety of the people on the upcoming event, subsequent to the tragedy that happened in China.

Yao Ming will head to China on June for a month of training in preparation for the Olympics 2008 that will be in August. He just recovered from his foot surgery and can now run for about three quarters of his full power.
Yao will be the hopes of team China in the basketball category this coming Olympics 2008.

Yao Ming was criticized by the media one day ago for the amount of donations he was able to give to the victims of the quake in China.
He was said to be a thrifty person, in spite of how much he earns from playing the basketball, he was also one of the richest among the Chinese celebrities. The media said that the amount he has donated doesn’t affect his bank account. Onefan said that: “If 500,000 dollars — not to mention 500,000 yuan — disappeared from his bank account, he wouldn’t even notice.”

2007, is its biggest
China marketing effort.

Reebok has cancelled major plans for Yao Ming, because Olympics 2008 is coming off and by then Yao will be very busy with games.
The company understands the situation of Yao Ming, because by the time of Olympics they will never know if their endorser can work for them or not. All they have are chances of the athletes working for them is when they get eliminated off the game.

Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua both Filipino Americans are the Philippine Pair are into beach volleyball gaining points to be able to make it to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. These two have joined a lot of competition, and fortunately won those trophies and awards. The pair has already won at bronze medalist for the 2006 Asian Games in Doha and the 2005 Southeast Asian Games and they earned 680 points for it.
They have to be in the top 24 in order to be able to make it to the Olympics and secure a first ever Philippine draw out.

“Hopefully this time in our homeland we can give our people a surprise and for ourselves too.” This was Yao’s statement when he was interviewed by the press people of Beijing and New York. Yao ming wants to make it at least to the top eight of the upcoming Beijing Olympics. There are no frail players in the Olympics, because it is composed of the best ones in every continent.
This time Yao is much more positive of his games, because of the experiences on injuries he has gone all the way through. He had been injured from his toe and his right tibia.
