Barack Obama who occupies the middle space between black and white is able to reflect upon his life in the white, black and APA communities, and has gone further than any previous non-white campaigner on the presidential campaign. It is believed that Asian Pacific Americans would be the first minority to win the White House. Sen. Obama has stated repeatedly throughout the campaign that electing one person will not change things, but encouraging people all across the country to stand up and take charge of their own lives will, indeed, make a substantive change.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed more judges of racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds which proves the skeptics of some minority bar associations leaders were wrong.
According to the article:
- About 22 percent of Schwarzenegger’s judicial appointees to date identify themselves as Asian-American, Latino or African-American, up from a cumulative total of about 16 percent just 18 months ago.

Obama for America will open an office in Philadelphia’s Chinatown this Saturday, March 22, with festivities starting at 11:30 a.m.
The office space, donated by Obama supporter Lee Deng, is located at 924 Cherry Street, 2nd floor rear, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
Deng, who says Obama’s message of inclusion and hope had moved him, says of his gift, “I want to help in any way I can.”
Between March 22 and 31, the office will be open Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Beginning April 1, the office will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Among other services, the office will provide voter registration forms in Korean, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Cambodian/Khmer, English and Spanish.

Sen. Barack Obama claimed victory by a wide margin over Sen. Hillary Clinton in Mississippi’s Democratic primary Tuesday.
Obama won 61 percent of the vote, and rest went to Clinton.

Sam Yoon is the first Asian American to be elected to office when he won his seat in Boston 2005.
Since then the Princeton and Harvard alum has charted a progressive legislative track that’s brought him much positive attention and garnered him a spot on the Democratic National Committee’s Rules Committee.

Asian American and Ethnic Studies teacher, Eric Mar, is running for supervisor of San Francisco’s Richmond District in the November 2008 election.
Mar, a community activist, began as a student at SF State in 1984, and then became a lecturer in 1992.
Now he is campaigning for the election if elected he would change the developmental standards in the city by getting rid of ‘big box’ stores so that smaller businesses can thrive.

Shoreline’s new mayor Cindy Ryu a Korean American Born in 1957, she is the first female Korean-American mayor in the United States. She is also only the second female mayor in Shoreline’s 13-year history. Shoreline has a one third population of immigrants. Ryu is fluent in both English and Korean.
