Filipino-Americans of Hampton Road, Virginia Beach are among the top skilled and highest-paid people in their place. The economy of the Filipino-Americans there is growing. They Hampton Road is consist of Virginia southeastern region which composes of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg. The place has 34- Filipino-American organizations on which they embody the professional groups, ethnic and geographical partitions in the Philippines.

The place has now 50,000 Filipino-Americans residing in there, enough to boost a certain small community’s economy. Those people are divided into businessmen, nurses, employees, navy men and families. The Filipino-American nurse is composed of Filipinas both American and Filipino who works at Norfolk and Virginia Beach hospitals. The employees are high-educated people who choose to be employees in the stores at Virginia Beach, rather than to be the person in charge. Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Virginia Beach assist Filipino-American entrepreneurs with their business and provide networking opportunities.

Journalist says U.S. faces Asian competition

About 225 people filled the seats in the SIU Law Auditorium, putting the room near capacity, to hear David Sanger, chief Washington correspondent for the New York Times, lecture. Focusing much of his lecture on China, a country Sanger said has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, he examined how China, Japan and India have risen as world powers to become strategic competitors to the U.S. economy and military.

South Korea relaxes U.S. beef import rules

South Korea on Friday agreed to open up to U.S. beef imports after Washington pledged to raise safety standards, boosting prospects for a sweeping trade deal ahead of a summit between leaders of the allies later in the day. South Korea’s farm ministry said in a statement that imports of U.S. beef will be expanded gradually and it would allow in bone-in beef from cattle under 30 months as a first step.

Survey: companies optimistic about M&A in Asia

Respondents to an M&A survey predict a higher level of activity in the next 18 months with China, India and Southeast Asia ranking high on both perceived opportunity and attendant risks. M&A activity in the region is expected to grow, according to a survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit with Marsh, Mercer and Kroll, but concerns remain about investments in China, India and Southeast Asia.

AsiaWatch: American Electric Technologies Strengthens Asian Presence

American Electric Technologies, Inc., with current joint venture operations in China and Singapore, has entered into its third Asian joint venture with a new strategic partnership in Jakarta, Indonesia. Under the terms of the agreement, the new joint venture will concentrate on the service and marketing of power delivery products to benefit the burgeoning Indonesian power generation and oil and gas markets.
