In my opinion, this is “must see”. It reminded me of some older Tyra Banks talkshow clips on the same subject, however this segment is even more blatant and clear so that there is no mistaking what is going on.

Korean Culture Night was hosted Wednesday evening by the Korean student group Hanoolim. It was combined modern elements and cultural performances into a play titled “Jung” to express the importance and value of family and friendship. For more than 20 years, Korean Culture Night has been held annually at UCLA to highlight the Korean community in Los Angeles. Since 2005, the event has been a cohesive production. The event was sponsored by local businesses in Koreatown who paid for the set and costumes.

The ninth annual “Mr. and Ms. Asia” , which are determined by Traditional costumes, Asian cultural trivia and a talent show, begins at 6 p.m. Sunday in the IU Auditorium. The event will help celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

Colgate University’s Picker Art Gallery will host Asian Art Study Day from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Asian Art Study Day will provide an opportunity to learn about the Asian and Asian-American art in current exhibits and in the gallery’s permanent collection. It will also include presentations and discussions, and a light Asian-inspired lunch.

Missouri State University’s Office of Multicultural Student Services is presenting a month-long celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage.A variety of workshops and activities will take place during the months of April and May recognizing the history and cultures of these communities.The celebration is co-sponsored by the Asian American Pacific Islander Organization (AAPIO), the Multicultural Resource Center and the Student Activities Council.

The Student Development-Multicultural Programs and Services hosted the fourth-annual Iron Chef competition which brought seven teams made up of between two and four people to Quigley Hall on April 5.The event was part of Asian American Heritage Month and students of every race showcased their cooking prowess, hoping to be this year’s Iron Chef. Finally,the judges chose the Vietnamese team as this year’s Iron Chef and their dish of Banh Zeo.

The Asian American Association hosted the Asian Awareness Night at the International House on April 2 for the third time. Attendants were treated with Asian cuisine from local restaurants and comedic skits performed by the Asian American Association. This Awareness Night focus more on Asian-American issues and include a wider Asian representation.

To celebrate Asian Americans’ achievements and culture as well as promote diversity on campus, Student Senate passed a resolution 27-0-1 in support of an Asian American Heritage Month in April. Currently, the population of Asian American students on campus is 3.29 percent, according to the resolution, and while UW-Eau Claire holds other heritage months, there isn’t one specifically for this.

Spring festivities are well underway and The Asian American Student Association will be hosting their 25th Annual Asian Night this weekend. A cultural spectacle, the night will be unveiling a myriad of performances and demonstrations presented by Five-College students. On April 5, the show will commence at 7 p.m. Advertising and invites through posters and Facebook.com have already been sent to students.
