New cultural center serves Boston’s Chinatown

The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center’s new Community Arts Center is offering a slew of cultural classes — lion dance, Mandarin and calligraphy, to name a few — aimed at addressing the new wave of Asian Americans from outside Chinatown and the area’s non-Chinese residents, The Boston Globe reports.

Says Giles Li, the center’s new arts coordinator: “This is a response to the way the community is changing. Some people used to live here and are looking for a way to stay connected, and some people are moving in and have never had a connection with Chinese culture or Chinatown. We want to bring all these diverse populations together.”

Local New York City indie filmmaker Leon Le is going for the prize of being one of 16 indie filmmakers to compete in Hollywood for a $1 million movie development deal with DreamWorks. But in order to get to that stage, Le will have to make the first cut of getting onto Steven Spielberg’s upcoming reality TV series “On The Lot”, slated to premiere on FOX on May 22.

Please show your support for this self-taught, budding filmmaker by watching his film, rating it and posting a review. Your support will give Leon a better chance at competing for the win.
