The Asian-American Minority Swing Vote

Asian-American has voted for Hillary Clinton in big percentage. There is a group called 80-20 Initiative that has been supporting Clinton on Super Tuesday. It is called 80-20, because their objective or goal is to put all their votes and money to the candidate that they have endorsed.

Groups like these try to oppose any oppose any indifferences or alarm. The continuous growth of Asian-Americans in the U.S. can possibly manipulate a certain election. Once, in a close election, they have recognized a swing group which their support is for Clinton.

Yao Ming set for return to training in June

Yao Ming will head to China on June for a month of training in preparation for the Olympics 2008 that will be in August. He just recovered from his foot surgery and can now run for about three quarters of his full power.

Yao will be the hopes of team China in the basketball category this coming Olympics 2008.

‘Free Food for Millionares’ Hit Bookstands

Chang-rae Lee protagonist is the author of “Free food for Millionaires.” She is a Korean-American writer who makes the people thinks in love, life choices and pride. She is a cum-laude at Princeton University, but she doesn’t have a job and is shopaholic. Her parent is immigrants and has a business of laundry store.

“Free Food for Millionaires” is about a young, tough girl in early 20’s pursuing to be based in New York, but as the story goes on it is more on telling the story about the characters around her. It tells about how perfect the characters in the story and to know that the usual racism problems would affect them.

Michael Joo Returns with New Exhibit

00. 01 “Relationalized” by Michael Joo is on display at the PKM Gallery in Seoul.

Korean art is back again in New York’s lime light. Michael Joo a Korean-American artist is again making his masterpieces. “There is still a search for identity in terms of race. But the exploration includes identity of certain mediums, like sculptures and paintings. It is also about racialized identity on a much larger scale,” was his description of his recent exhibit.

Joo does sculptures and painting. He also has a gallery in Seoul, Korea which has currently display.

Local Chinese Americans raise $5,725 for quake victims

Chinese-Americans have collected $5,725 for the victims of the China earthquake. This amount of money will be sent to Sichuan Red Cross Society.

The donation will be used for the victims’ daily, such as food, clothing, water and temporary shelter like tents.

Fr. Perez gives his first blessing after ordination

Father Ronald P. Perez a Filipino-American from Batangas, Philippines is the oldest candidate that was ordained by Archbishop Edward Cardinal Egan of New York last May 10, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. He was a former paralegal at Midtown law firm.

His decision of becoming a priest is a measured one, because he based it in his activities inside his home parish, which is St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Liu and Yassky Push the Idea of Biking to Work

John Liu and David Yaasky lead the National Bike to Work Day. This is for the purpose of the cars to be responsive of the bike lanes in opening their doors.

John Liu also helped facilitate in passing a bill about an automatic $50 charge for those who ride their bikes on the sidewalk.

SPI Named in Nation’s “50 Fastest-Growing Asian American Businesses” by USPAACC-EF

US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC-EF) named the company Software Paradigm International (SPI) as one of the 50 fastest growing Asian American business in the nation. The declaration will be held during 23rd CelebrAsian Annual National Business Opportunity ’08 at the White House.

SPI is from North America. Their line of business is Global Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing. They provide Financial Services, Retail, Healthcare and Manufacturing.
