OCA-NY is proud to co-host the screening of “Yielding the Floor,” a short film that documents the thoughts views and experiences of some of our most prominent Asian and Pacific Islander American leaders in Congress. After more than a year of interviews conducted with six current and former members of Congress, the US Capitol Historical Society, whose mission it is to educate the public on the history and heritage of the US Capitol Building and all those who serve therin, retained the services of well-known producer, Samantha Cheng to interview and videotape these important leaders.

Samantha and her team, in coordination with U.S. Capitol Historical Society staff, compiled more than 10 hours of interviews with U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye, U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka, U.S. Representative Mike Honda, U.S. Representative David Wu, U.S. Representative Doris Matsui, and former U.S. Representative and Cabinet Secretary Norman Mineta.

The U.S. Capitol Historical Society also worked with U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao who offered her commentary and perspectives on working in the U.S. Capitol and with members of Congress.

With corporate support from AT&T, Wal-Mart and IW Group, Samantha Cheng and the broadcast production team at IW Group, have compiled a short 30-minute video with personal observations, thoughts and comments from the six former and current members of Congress with additional insights and comments from U.S. Secretary Elaine L.
