New voices draw parallels in plight of illegal immigrants
SR march unites county Jewish, Asian communities with Latinos
A country-wide march whose aim is to bring awareness about the plight, causes and effects of Illegal immigration in the US happens today at downtown Santa Rosa.
The multi-racial march shows support for refugees and undocumented immigrants.
In opposition, there is a counter demonstration organized by the local chapter of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. They are not against legal immigration; rather they are against “open border” policies that have allowed millions to enter the country illegally.
The pros are calling for immigration reform. This is to stop stereotyping of gang-related crimes among the immigrant youths. Current immigration laws affect not only the Latino community but the Asians as well.
The antis are crying foul over the double-standard with regards to cheap labor, tapping illegal immigrants as resources. They are screaming for the implementation of fair laws.
