A Chinese teen at a Gravesend middle school was beaten so badly in a stairwell that another student was charged as an adult, the Daily News has learned.The boy was so frightened after the Dec. 17 attack he is now accompanied to class by a social worker, his father said.
“‘Hitting Chinese is very fun,’ they said while beating him up,”

I’m very surprised and a little digusted that this story has not received more attention from socially and politically conscious Asian-American bloggers.
Our community waxes ad nauseum on how invisible we are in mainstrem culture yet when one of our children is viciously beaten in a racist attack we don’t seem to pay attention. We are invisible to ourselves and eachother. Why should we expect the mainstream to notice us when we don’t notice our own?
Isn’t speaking out against this kind of racism and support for it’s victims one of the main purposes of Asian “activism”?
