Posted in Sexuality at 10:35 am by william_lee

Jewish community is opposing the same sex marriages because they say its against their tradition.
Jewish legal tradition is grounded in the notion that the law should be applied equally to all, friend and stranger alike. Same-sex couples are relegated to second-class citizenship when denied access to marriage, a fundamental institution of our society. Those who would stigmatize or criminalize gay and lesbian marriages are the heirs of those who once fought against the legalization of interracial marriage in this country. Posted in Politics at 4:50 pm by william_lee

It’s great news for Filipino veterans who were in WW2 if Barrack Obama is elected in this presidential campaign because he would support a bill for that would award pensions to Filipinos who fought under the U.S. flag during World War II when the Philippines was a U.S. colony. Obama thinks that they deserve this for their courageous work, and he issued this statement this week urging his colleagues in Senate to provide the veterans with this recognition. According to him, these heroes are still being denied benefits. The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee already has passed a broad bill that includes the benefit measure. The full Senate has yet to vote on the legislation. Sen. Daniel Akaka, a Hawaii Democrat and chairman of the veteran affairs committee, backs the Filipino veterans bill. Akaka is also a U.S. veteran of World War II. Filipino-American veterans, most now in their 80s, have campaigned for decades to win the benefits they were promised. Finally they have hope with this statement issued by Obama.

Sumo’s enfant terrible Asashoryu looks likely to escape punishment for his latest public outburst in which he told photographers to “drop dead.” The incident came after the firebrand Mongolian completed his comeback to the roly-poly sport following a ban for secretly playing football while claiming to be injured. Photographers waiting to snap Asashoryu on his return to Japan from Hawaii on Monday got an earful from the trouble-prone grand champion, who snarled: “Drop dead, you idiots.” But Japan Sumo Association (JSA) officials brushed off Asashoryu’s remarks, saying they did not want to hear the wrestler’s side of events
