Saying “Thanks” the Disrespectful Way
So, what do you get when too many Asians put a non-Asian on a pedestal? Well the Japanese tend to do an overabundance of asskissing, but I’ll save that for another article. So let me answer the question. The truth is, when Asians put a non-Asian on a pedestal - or simply give them respect - these non-Asians will respond with the extreme opposite, disrespect.
The best examples come from Asian female/non-Asian male couples. All too often you’ll hear stories of weak-minded Asian women allowing their non-Asian boyfriends to talk smack about Asians. How many non-Asian guys with Asian girlfriends really respect our culture? My best guess is: not enough. Okay, I just had to get that off my chest. Now let’s talk about the news article here - “Spielberg urges China again to help end Darfur ‘genocide’.”
In the article, film director Steven Spielberg, who is currently serving as an artistic advisor for the Beijing olympics, decides to show a bit of disrespect. Apparently, for the second time Stevie appealed to Chinese president Hu Jintao to do something about the situation in Darfur.
I have a few words for Stevie: dont bite the hand that feeds you! They hired you so keep your mouth shut!
During these times of nonstop anti-China news coupled with purebread ethnocentrism, it’s no surprise Stevie, or most people, would jump on the anti-China bandwagon. Can you believe this man, who has been hired by China, shows his appreciation by practially saying, “Thanks for the job, but I will now put you down.”
Unfortunately, this is a subject difficult for many to grasp. So allow me to teach it: if someone hires you, you dont put them down. Why? Because it’s disrespectful. And if your boyfriend/girlfriend talks smack about our culture, ask for respect. Believe me, too many people dont know any better.

I’ve always been both geographically and politically challenged so bear with me as I ask the following:
Isn’t Darfur in Africa?
And isn’t the conflict between local warring groups?
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe I’ve heard reports of China invading Darfur in an attempt to claim territory (unlike … ).
So why exactly is the London based (chuckle) Amnesty International implying China has responsibility for this situation?
AT WORST, if China is assisting one side against the other in a local conflict, is that not what the Anglo’s (aka WASPs) have done repeatedly throughout history and continue to do so today?
But the real ? is, why is Spielberg being kept on the payroll? Shame on him for shitting where he eats or shame on China for letting him get away with it?

Realize that China is and has done some terrible things, and we will continue to call them out on it. Calling us racist is an absurd denial of what is going on in the world.
And walking around NYC yesterday, I saw 5 WM/AF couples and 2 AF/AM couples. Whether the white guys dislike Asian culture, I don’t know. I think many of them are able to attract Asian girls, and it’s really that simple.

Actually, John, who gives a shit about what happens in Darfur? It’s just a trendy way to beat people about the head for not doing things about something they have little hope to control anyway. And, after all, it’s just another example of black-on-black violence.
However, I think that George Lou’s analysis is way off base. Spielberg is simply playing the white elite status game and the Chinese would be wise to ignore him.
Also, I do think that George has a case of the Bitter Asian Male syndrome. Get over the fact that a percentage of Chinese females find us 鬼老 worth jumping into bed with.

The Euro-Trash never seemed to have a problem with the Congo…. several million Cogoneese/Zaire peoples ahve died at the hands of a European-backd rulers and dictators. But then of course, it is European money that stands to gain in those deals, not the money of “mud-peoples.”
Although id on’t believe we should “forgive” the Chinese goverment for anything, we should certainly point out the hypocricy that these European peoples perpetrate.
After-all thse same European peoples are the ones who wiped out the whole of an entire continent of People (north America) decimated another (Central/South America), and enslaved yet another (Africa), ontop of all that, they imposed draconion imperialism on the rest of the WOrld (Arabia and Asia).

So basically, anytime someone criticizes China all you can do is talk about European Imperialism? Look, China buys resources from Darfur, and sells their government weapons that the Sudanese Government uses to slaughter 200,000 people. China, because they have a veto on the Security Council, prevents the UN from intervening in Darfur, and so the incompetent African Union is trying to keep the peace. The Congo is a totally different situation.

Obviously tempers are flaring and that is not conducive to a productive discussion.
I believe I can summarize the thoughts thus far as:
a) no one is condoning the fact that China is not doing all they can to prevent the atrocities that are happening in Sudan.
b) the ultimate blame lies with Sudan itself.
c) no one is worshiping the Chinese government but we all seem to find it uncanny how the European based nations are not held accountable to the same degree for their actions as China (or other East Asian nations) is.
so can we all agree to put this puppy to bed now?

I have to commend Fallout Central for allowing me to disagree with their platform many times through the comments. Many blogs and opinion centers often filter out opposition comments.
However, got to love the personal attacks that have done absolutely nothing to refute either
a) The statistically robust estimates from using IQ in determining national wealth
b) The use of Chinese weapons in Darfur and the blocking of UN efforts to halt the genocide by Chinese representatives at the Security Council.
The thing is, is that our world now operates on a higher moral level than it did 300 years ago. Comparing Chinese support for genocide today against European colonialism 300 years ago is an unfair analogy. Sure, Europeans did terrible things. The question is: are they doing terrible things now? Has the US run over any protesters recently with tanks?

In a nutshell, here’s what I commented the other day:
a) There has been a lot of anti-China content in the media of late, but Spielberg isn’t being anti-China. He’s being pro-Darfur.
b) while many insensitive non-Asians often show disrespect toward Asians and Asian culture, I fail to see how asking for help in ending genocide in one country (Sudan) is disrespectful to folks in another country (China).
c) just cuz someone is paying you doesn’t mean that you cannot challenge them in some way… in a democracy at least.

Who gives a care about spielberg? He’s just some guy in the entertainment industry and wields no real power. I couldn’t give less of a care whether or not he works on the olympics.
The people who are wasting so much energy on trying to pressure china into pressuring sudan to let up on darfur should cut out the middle man. How about these ppl direct their energy directly at the nation of sudan?
We don’t jail the friends of criminals. Period. Besides, i don’t believe there is a single nation in the world who can make Sudan change it’s ways.
