“You are nothing more than a Chinatown boxer.” - Edison Miranda (Warrior’s Boxing)
In the lead up to a potential bout, in is the norm for boxers not only travel to watch their potential future opponents but also to engage in some trash talk as well when interviewed.
Recently Edison Miranda traveled to Canada to watch Jean Pascal in a bout, after which he provided the usual interview filled with bravado (published on www.fightnews.com/). Only this time I was shocked to hear his racially disrespectful closing statement, which was the aforementioned: “You are nothing more than a Chinatown boxer.” (translation: “You are a pussy”) which read less as an insult to Pascal and more as an insult to us.
The only thing Miranda did was exercise his right to freedom of speech. Maybe we should do the same (freedom of speech works both ways) and contact any stations televising his upcoming bouts (or any Warrior’s boxing events for that matter) indicating that we intend to boycott the sponsors.
The next Miranda bout is on January 11, 2008 and ESPN2 (contact page: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?page=contact/espntv) intends to televise both Pascal and Miranda the same night. Maybe a nice note (or nastygram, your choice) to boycott the sponsors of the program would be worthwhile.
Miranda is promoted by Warriors Boxing, the Executive Director of which is Leon Margules (leon@warriorsboxing.com), may want to send him a nice note as well.

Talk racist back to them, instead of threatening boycott. Thought and speech control has gone to far. Specifically, I think that if Asians respond to anti-Asian remarks with anti-black or anti-hispanic remarks (which usually get liberals more riled up than anti white or anti asian remarks) then we’ll be better of in improving freedom of speech.

Why is it John Smith, do you, as an “Indian American” as you claim to be, in flesh, but not in heart, continue to ravage this site with your subtle yet fierce, sarcastic, and prejudiced comments towards the APA cause, or towards the Afro-American struggle for that matter?
I read your entries in your blog and I have to say I totally disagree with many of your postings. Im sure many who regularly post on this site harbor similar feelings.
It would seem that you really have issues with persons of color. Its obvious with all the true believers of the APA cause who regularly comment on this site and others, which includes supporters who are of Afro American , South Asian, or mixed race descent, Hapas and Blasians, as well as Asian American men and women who are not blind to the racist mechanisms that oppress people in this country.
Perhaps you shoud reconsider what you are really saying by your comments. You are certainly not helping matters by your expressions of backwards thinking in race relations and politics. You make me wonder sometimes. . . . . . . . .

John smith is not indian. DUH.
Just because he claims to be doesn’t mean he is. He’s just some lonely pathetic bored guy who’s so starved for attention that he’ll even take negative attention.
And miranda is a prick. I hope he got his face bashed in.
