Positive Reinforcement - Contact www.underarmour.com

underarmour_adOne major contributing factor to the inclusion of Asian Americans in mainstream media, TV, movies, and advertisements is positive reinforcement. See something you like? Say something! Want to see more of it? Call the advertiser! This is a recent banner ad that we recently saw on the web (see right).

The more positive-reinforcement email messages and phone calls they get, the more likely they will be to continue to present positive portrayals of Asian American men with Asian American women in their advertisements. It’s really just that simple.

    WTF is this?

So, if I’m white, should I only give my custom to companies that advertise using white models? Should I boycott all brands that use black models in their ads? AZN models? What gives?

Don’t you numb-nuts see the inherent racism in these posts?

I think they look Asian. Their probably South Asian.

    sandskingo,
Well the whole point of advertising is to find models to relate to the person who buys it. Of course it seems like a stupid idea because you are a caucasian and you’ve been exposed to hundreds of ad’s geared towards you. But, its always been hard to find Asian models so what’s the harm to embrace it now? There is no racism and I believe you wouldnt understand our perspective of it no matter how hard you tried.

sandskingo: I will contribute to brands that recognize my demographic and represent it in a positive manner. Why would I give my money to someone who calls me a f***ing c****?

    Wendy darling,

You make assumptions from a position of ignorance (par for the course on this site). I have lived in Asia for over 23 yeras. I see countless adverts on a daily basis using AZN models. Doesn’t bother me nor insult me in the least.

I stand by my statements… I do not seek products in Asia simply because they are sold using caucasian models. I seek products based on my own personal need for or desire to have such goods. Such goods may be made in China, Taiwan, Korea, N. America, Japan and or Europe and may be advertised using white, black or AZN models. Doesn’t matter one lick to me. And why should it?

Now, if a company uses racist adverts or demonstrates racist policy, I will boycott said company’s products and seek alternative goods.

But, I’ll be damned if I’m going to make a decision to purchase a product based upon the color of the skin of the model used to advertise such product.

Doing so would in fact be racist. I’m not a racist. Seems that many people on this site are racists.

    Funny that, innit?

    alex,

Please identify the company that has used advertising methods to call you a “f***ing c****”. I too would like to boycott such company’s products.

Oh… are you just making s*** up? You mean to say that no company has ever advertised their product by calling you a “f***ing c****”.

Do you know what a strawman is, alex? I ask because, well, you know, you seem to be setting one up.

I guess you’re quite young… angst and all that, eh?

    LOL! wahahaha!

sandykkk sees products that feature “azn models?” hey crakkker, them japanese porn videos featuring white males and black males ganging up on lotus blossoms doesn’t count, in case you haven’t read anything.

but why bother, you’re just a racist troll trying to spiel your BS lies.

in asia, there are tons of skin whitening creams for women (loreal, olay, etc), and the irony is that they all feature white women in order to sell to asian women.

    humps,

Your puerile comments add nothing to the discussion.

What exactly are you so angry about? Let it out, boy. You’ll feel better after you complain here… after all, nobody will know who you are. Can’t get a date?

maybe when you grow up and become a man your prospects will improve.

Until then, perhaps you should stay off your Mother’s computer. You’re making an arse of yourself.
