Asian American in NJ Victim of Bias Incident
A resident of Wanaque, NJ, came home from work one day at around 5:30pm to find the message “[Expletive] You Chinese”. In addition to that, his property was vandalized with ketchup, eggs, white rice, food, and cardboard food cartons.
The three teens were charged with bias intimidation, criminal mischief, and harassment. In explaining their reasoning, they
- “told police they were just plain “bored”.
Also, according to this article,
- “All were charged as juveniles and released into the custody of their parents. As juveniles, it was uncertain what penalties they could face.”

They are teenagers, so as minors their identities must be protected, this is standard procedure.
I think the odds of them ever finding a Chinese guy who would want to date them after this is low.

thanks sizwe_x, that’s a very thorough and accurate article.
unfortunately, these teens “don’t know any better” and “didn’t cause much damage,” so they would probably not get the penalties they deserve. i use quotation marks because these are typical excuses in defense of anyone who “jokingly” hates and damages asians/asian americans.
