PROTEST ALERT: THE APA COMMUNITY DEMANDS THE FIRING OF JV & ELVIS!

  • DATE: Friday, April 27, 2007
  • TIME: 12:00 noon
  • LOCATION: CBS Headquarters
    51 West 52nd Street
The Black Rock Building off 6th Avenue

A community protest is currently being organized by Asian American leaders to publicly condemn the racist, anti-Asian antics of CBS Radio personalities Jeff Vandergrift (a.k.a. “JV”) and Dan Lay (a.k.a. “Elvis”) and to demand their immediate firing. Watch this space for upcoming details.

In the mean time, click here and read our open letter to CBS Radio for more information regarding Vandergrift and Lay’s history of racist and degrading remarks towards Asians.

Most recently, the tasteless duo made a six-minute prank phone call to a Chinese restaurant (which originally aired on April 5, 2007 and re-aired on April 19, 2007 — a week after Don Imus was fired for his “nappy-headed hos” comment), where they verbally abused restaurant workers with racist, vulgar and sexist comments that range from mock Asian accents (”flied lice”) to sexual harassment (telling a female employee they want to see her “hot Asian spicy ass”).

If you would like to join the FALLOUT CENTRAL ARMY at the protest, email us at: comments@falloutcentral.com

It’s about time that racism against Asians suffer repercussions. If racism against the black community is not tolerated, why should it be any different for the Asian community?

I am deeply offended by this “prank”, and have written Karen Mateo to tell her so. No group of people deserves this kind of degrading treatment. It is simply not funny.

I am tired of listening to people make the most derogatory and inhuman remarks and jokes about Asians. The bad fake accents, the racist jokes that re-enforce stereotypes–all this s**t makes me sick! Each time I hear a bigot mouth another “joke”, I am incensed and sickened to my core! Somehow everyone thinks it is okay to inflict nastiness on us and make Asians the subject of all types of “jokes”–and they all get away with it! I have the dishonor of knowing some folks who have publically stated that Asians aren’t people of color! Stop denying us our due!! Stop treating us like third rate animals!
Enough is enough!! Not this time!!
Stop eroding our humanity, our history and our heritage. Just because this society is into Yoga, Tai Chi and Chai lattes, does not mean it isn’t racist!!
Natasha Yi cannot escape the reality that her husband is racist. By supporting him, she is contributing to the racism we are constantly subjected to. It has to stop! NOW!!

    get over it.
you see bullshit ass racist jokes everday in television from carlo mencia to dave chappelle.
    you guys are hopeless.
dont try to speak out for a small number of asians who are disgusted by this so called racist prank.
if you’re offended by a voice talking operator ordering fried rice.
what kind of jokes do you laugh at?
    seriously.
    f***.
    you.
    thanks.

PEOPLE WITH UNCLASSIFIED FOREIGN ACCENTS LISTEN UP!!!!!!!! It’s time we put an end to shows on TV like “Perfect Strangers” where “Cousin Balki” talked like he was from a foreign land, even though we all know he didn’t really talk like that. Oh, the laugh track rolled as he would stumble through his lines on a weekly basis. Maybe the man-made laugh track, but not the man-felt laugh track of my heart.

Are you people kidding me? Offended? Well, I hereby declare that I am offended by you being offended. I will hence stop eating all forms of Asian cuisine and gather all those offended by your being offended outside of your place of work and resort to picketing. You all have left me no choice.

How about you all find something better to do with your time.

    Losers.

“what kind of jokes do you laugh at?”

    here’s one:

Q: how do you know when a white girl isn’t a virgin anymore?

    A: when she can’t outrun her i***** r****** f*****.

HAHA! come on, you should have a sense of humor about i***** whites, because all whites are like that, similar to how asians are all like “flied lice” right?

    here’s another:

Q: what’s the difference between a white man and a dog?

A: a dog doesn’t fornicate with another dead dog like the w**** m** does.

come on, it’s only a joke!

uhm, speaking of hypocrisy and self-irony of you writing that post on here…

nevermind, you’re probably too stupid to realize the double standard with you complaining about others complaining…

see this is the problem, all of u don’t see the bigger picture to this. It is not the caller or employee i’m worried about, it is not me that I’m most worried about. I’m worried about the asian kids that are growing up hating themselves and their culture because of this.

Those asian kids will grow up being laughed at by other kids thinking their parents are just like those employees being played. It is the pride that is going to be the consequence of this and pride is already what Asians don’t have in this country… especially after the shame brought upon by william hung, and even from v tech shooting.

Kids will grow up wanting nothing to do with being Chinese. I mean who would want to be after your race is a laugh stock of the city by prank calls. The suppression of asian pride is in this thing u guys call “joke”. Can you imagine yourself having no pride in who you are?

Apparently, some people are still ignorant in the fact that this was not only a racist prank call, but also SEXUAL HARASSMENT. There’s a fine line between “poking fun at” and demeaning an ethnic group AND verbally/sexually harassing an unsuspecting women.

i’ve seen many races proudly wave their flags in the streets of NY. But do you ever see an asian group waving their flags proudly here? I dare to compare blacks to asians because we do not do that. Our proud supposely comes from the U.S of A and if U.S.A rejects, ridicules, and discriminates us what do kids/teenagers/adults do? What flags can we lift proudly if one frequently rejects/suppress you and the other have not much historic pride?

ALL Asian Americans who show up for the protest, THANKYOU for doing your part in representing those of us who cannot make the trip out to NYC.

Please do not let these racists..weasel their way out by suddenly becoming silent. They prey on the weak but apologize to strength. They are now feeling the heat, so keep them to the fire.

Silence on this issue implies acceptance. Those of us who can’t go, can still strike a blow for the community.

Call, write and/or email the following CBS Radio personnel and let them know that our community is not going to sit by idly while we are insulted, humiliated and dehumanized over public airwaves, nor will we tolerate any double standards (i.e. the Imus incident) when it comes to their company’s policy on public displays of racism.

There’s still time today to write, you can still let them know that Asian America is coming down there and that people are on the march.

dear caroline, i don’t know if you’re white or black or latino, but thanks for your support towards the asian-american community.

it’s rare, but every once in awhile there are still good white people out there who wants to make a difference and make the american dream a reality for everyone.

you’ve restored a little of my faith in what america the beautiful is about.

    have a good weekend.

Will you idiots stop coming into our house and trying to change the house rules and making demands?!

Everybody makes fun of everybody, period. You are a minority, and always will be, no matter how hard you try to invade every aspect of America, which means you are a target for a little bit of humor. It’s not like White people aren’t the subject of others’ jokes!

Stop feeling that you need to identify with groups, because you have none of your own, stop thinking that YOUR race is the best (far, far from it). You can’t be taken seriously when you only defend YOUR OWN race, which means you’re racist. You either fight racism, as a whole, or shut your damn mouths.

I have walked into Asian-owned businesses, and have had service REFUSED to me because I’m a real citizen. I Iive in a (now) heavily populated (what a surprise) Asian community, and never had a problem with anybody. It happened a few times, and now I’m out for blood. I have A BIG problem with you folks now, and you can thank yourselves.

You’re not perfect, and you have no right to demand special attention. Everybody gets joked about once in a while. Grow up. You’re just as bad as Pro-life maniacs who murder doctors.

I’m no racist, but I won’t deny that there are differences in races. If you do, there’s no point in reading on, because you a have a total lack of understanding and logic.

You are in another country. Don’t forget that, and understand that you will always be looked at as “different”, and for God’s sake show a little respect. And here’s a little advice - your little stunts to bring attention to you are going to end up working against you, because those of us who aren’t “Auto-Americans” are fed up with your trivial little causes that force us to make changes to accommodate YOU. Who the hell do you think you are? Your race has NO right or reason to be so arrogant, no race does. Every race has it’s strong characteristcs, and combined, would be a most perfect machine. But you idiots who think “our race deserves more respect” will make sure that never happens.

Now shut up, and be a productive member of Society (which deosn’t include finding ways to “buck the American system” or changing neighborhoods into isolated areas that only deal with their own kind with American money), or get your asses back to the place you’re trying to change this place into. And maybe, just maybe, this story will have a “Happy Ending”.

Hey Songbird - why does it matter if the writer is “black, white, or latino”?

You super heroes better learn to be able to deliver perfection before you can expect it.

is it so difficult for whitey european descendants to learn and acknowledge that asians have in the US just as long, if not longer than most of the white immigrants that’s the bulk of the current population?

dimsum brains here think that asians are the perpetual foreigners, whereas in reality asians have been an integral part of the society but always have been refused credit of achievements and accomplishements in the US.

look up the 442nd regiment, and see how asians have contributed much to “amerikkka” now STFU and go m*****t some sheep, you in**** red*****.

I imagine the other activists are praying that you stay home, because it’s obvious you don’t have much going for you.

You would be very dissapointed to know that your character profile of me was way off, I’m not a Bush-loving redneck type that you are so afraid of. Not even close.

I can see that a debate is out of the question, and you have made me your opponent. Unfortunately, I need a worthy opponent, not an adolescent weakling, so I cannot waste my time on this forum any longer. Good ruck with everything. :)
