Weekly Poll: JV & Elvis
On Monday, April 23, New York City radio personalities Jeff Vandergrift (a.k.a. “JV”) and Dan Lay (a.k.a. “Elvis”) of “The Dog House” on 92.3 Free FM were handed a suspension by CBS Radio over a racist and sexist prank phone call made to a Chinese restaurant. However, as FALLOUT CENTRAL uncovered, racist, anti-Asian antics are apparently an ongoing component to their show. Click the following links for a sampling of their hateful vile: “you rike a fortune cookie?” and Asian men have “rice pickles”
Supporters of Mr. Vandergrift are citing his marriage to Asian American “import model” Natasha Yi as proof that he isn’t a racist and the prank call was just in the name of good ole fun…at our expense, of course.

the APA community needs a march on Washington. The theme of the march is “STOP F***ING WITH US”. When I heard about the latest radio skit, I wanted to call a soulfood restaurant and ask for watermelon in a voice like Huck Finn’s runaway slave friend Jim. I bet they would say I’m racist. But I’m not. I would just like to see more people feel the affects of ordinary people joking around at other peoples expense.

People that are hiding behind the argument that his wife is Asian should put out that Strom Thurmund was having a sex with a black maid while railing against black civil rights.

Lol, you retard, JV and Elvis never railed against Civil Rights, never actually hurt any ethnicities or any of you.Feels good to be outraged and feel like you stand for something, without doing any work for anything real, huh? Thing is, because you all behave this way over simple words is why the real problems go unnoticed. You comfort yourselves with meaningless trash protests while not really solving any real problems.
So someone made fun of you. Welcome to the damn United States. There are so many different kinds of people here, you can’t possibly expect to just force social unity by silencing people when ever they make jokes on any one ethnicity. At this rate we’ll be like Middle Eastern countries like Iraq with hate brimming and simmering under the surface for no real reason just waiting for the Race Wars to start.
At least JV and Elvis gets out there and makes us all laugh. Yea, I’m Indian American, and I never gave a damn. If they were being jerks, I would just change the station, and they do that every so often. But no one should have the right to tell anyone they can’t say this or that.
No ones fault some people can’t take a joke. Bet plenty of American Asian kids were laughing when they heard this.

As an Indian American, I can’t see why you feel what the two d**** did over public airwaves aren’t that serious. I really suspect if you really are associated with the subcontinent, but let’s say that you are. So words are meaningless huh? I guess I can outside now and say “Hey you n*****” to the first African American I see? Or maybe call you a camel riding towelh**d huh? Oh, wait you aren’t an Arab? My bad. But hey suck it up, I can say whatever I want remember? Now imagine if he called an Indian restaurant mocking you with the Apu voice, said that he would like to tap that hot curry a** of your sister and ask if you have a s**** curry r***. You are OK with that? So you can sleep at night knowing someone just make fun of you, your heritage, your family, your culture and you let it go as a joke. Lol, how pathetic. What the two did wasn’t a joke; it was racism and harassment plain and simple. And I must said, you must had taken alot of items up your a** in your lifetime huh? You seem to let things slide in and out easily. If you really are Asian American, I pity you, your parents and most of all, your children. Now whether you are a troll or now, your comments can be said to be the most idiotic I had read for quite a while. For your information, what separates the people of Iraq is not ethnicity, it’s religion. Race Wars? The chances of that happening are more likely if people aren’t taught to get along with each other and most importantly, respect one another. I didn’t realize my parents came to the States with no English background and no cash other than what’s in their pockets, worked for 15 hours at a day, take no more than two days off a year for over a decade, and make countless other sacrificies for myself and my siblings to be here just so they can be some amusement for racist, bigoted, m****ic jer**. And believe me when I said this, those are the most polite words I am using to describe the two. My parents now own three houses as well as two restaurants and some other assets. I am currently serving in the military defending this great nation. My sister is attending college and my brother is in elementary. My father isn’t any stereotypical Asian man to be make fun; he is a better man than you or the two du*** will ever be.

Hey, Ryan,
I guess to you, it would be OK to have a free for all on Indians in the name of jokes, eh?
Thanks Lin for your very articulate but way too polite responds to this s***-sack Ryan.
Welcome to America? We are America you ****!

Ryan….
This is what happens when someone like you gets influenced by this f***** up constitution (1st. amendment), you learn how to hate yourself and support your enemies. It may not be racist to make fun of asians, but such acts prevent our younger Asian generation from being proud of who they are and blame themselves like you do right now!

Nagi, if you disagree with the most important document of our country then leave. To be offended by comments made by 2 radio hosts is one thing, but to call a document that I hold so dear f***ed up is vile. You have the right to be offended and I have the right to offend. You have to right to protest and call for the firing of these men and I have the right to counter protest and try to stop you from trying to alter the constitution. You are why it is so important that every person who holds our rights dear regardless of race, gender, or sexual preference needs to make a stand against censorship. You will not be content with the simple firing of these men; it seems that your agenda is to remove free speech. That is why we will fight you tooth and nail on this issue.

racist libel is not free speech. you can be sued in court for inciting public violence and unrest and will be fined or go to jail for it.
peaceful protest and voicing grievances against the government is free speech, which these idiot red***k racists isn’t doing.
so STFU and go rape some deers.

Albert Wang’s suggestions:
1. Federal Communications Commission has the regulatory authority to investigate CBS RADIO to make a determination of whether the BROADCAST and the REBROADCAST of Dog House’s “Chinese Food” prank call violated INDECENCY regulations. FCC should make the determination of whether CBS RADIO should be sanctioned, e.g., $10,000 for the BROADCAST and $15,000 for the REBROADCAST. If you are upset by the “Chinese Food” prank call, contact the FCC by sending an e-mail to fccinfo@fcc.gov. Ask FCC to protect children from unwanted INDECENT, OBSCENE, PROFANE, and, yes, also VIOLENT, material involuntarily transmitted by TV stations and Radio Stations into our homes, especially during daytime (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.). We also have the right to privacy in our own homes.
2. DOG HOUSE hosts should NOT be fired without cause. Don’t bark at the wrong tree. Do you want to go to a comedy show where the comedian is focusing on compliance with each and every imaginable federal, state, local and judge-made law and regulations? Let’s give comedians some artistic licence, and allow them to be funny. If CBS Radio is pressured into firing Dog House hosts without cause, more than 90% of Americans, including myself, would believe that another injustice has been created . We should not commit an INJUSTICE in response to a prior INJUSTICE. Let’s be FORGIVING, and not REVENGEFUL.
3. Let’s reaffirm our LOYALTY to the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. Let’s reaffirm FREEDOM OF SPEECH under the FIRST AMENDMENT. Let me be blunt: I am ethnic Chinese and a naturalized American citizen, and came here and choose to live here because I like it here and respects our LEGAL SYSTEM. If you don’t like our CONSTITUTION and have no respect for our LEGA SYSTEM, you can vote in the next election and try to make a difference through the electoral process, petition your Senators, House Representatives, State Assemblymen or Assemblywomen, City Councilmen or Councilwomen, or, if nothing works through the LEGAL PROCESS, you can exercise your CONSTITUTIONAL right to travel by moving to Canada, Mexico, Cuba, China or any other country of your choice.
WE CHOSE AMERICA. LET’S BE AMERICAN. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

p.s. If you like what I just said, or if you are upset by what I just said, before you make any comment, or criticism, educate yourself on these “Freedom Of Speech?,” “Indecency?” “Social Responsibility?” “Racism?” issues instead of making a lot of irrelevant and/or irreverent “Ben Ben” noises. Get educated first. If you like to get educated by me, go to my Blog, “BenBenXiong” ( i.e., “Stupid Foolish Bear”) at Wenxuecity.com.

It was a prank call..Jesus you liberals really need to grow some thicker skin… You are trying to get these guys fired for a prank call. This is censorship, you are trying to shake down radio companies. I will decide what I want to listen to, you can decide to turn off the station…It’s America, it’s what we do here- so get used to it.

free speech only when you have grievances against the government, for everything else that’s racist libel the private corporations can decide what their sponsors do or do not want to support.
relearn your civics class lessons, apparently you racists are even less capable than i’ve figured you be.

Wow, it’s amazing to find out how full of hatred for the white race some Asians are. Doesn’t that make them racist? Hatred is very corrosive and for their own good they should seek help. Just a suggestion from someone who chooses not to be a hater. This post will probably cause hatred to be directed towards me but as I told my child “even a dog has an opinion”. This was a tremendous help to her to deal with negativity. “Can’t we all just get along.” Sound familiar? On this site it would only be important if it were attributed to Confucius or another sage Asian.

well, jm, if you’re against the racists on the radio then you’re a cool white person, but otherwise racist libel disguised as toilet humor is still racism and we asians are going to fight it until it stops.
NO JUSTICE NO PEACE!

this man is definitely racist. maybe he’s more racist against asian american men cuz he hopes to keep all asian american women for himself.
luckily, most of us are not a pathetic excuse for a human being like Yi.
Birds of a feather flock together. There IS a reason those two got married.
This DJ is so racist that if he ever had a son with Yi (and I pity this child), he’d call his son “rice pickle” to his face.
